Child does not have logic, reason or the inhibitory process at the time of birth. Child uses mainly primitive mechanisms (fight-flight mechanisms) to express its needs. It develops inhibitory processes during its growing age.

At the time of birth child has very limited learning, i.e., capability to make sounds, sucking, making motor movements, and fear of falling and loud voice/noise. It has a physiological system and mental structure capable of further developing, and, sense organs capable of taking energy inputs and having sensation.

Child starts taking inputs through its sensory organs while interacting with the environment by association and identification. Dr. Piaget has called mentioned two processes, i.e., assimilation and accommodation.  Assimilation is the process by which a child/person takes inputs to its mind from the environment mainly because of interaction of sensory organs with the environment predominantly during the early childhood stage. Accommodation is the process of accommodating the new knowledge with the existing old knowledge leading to some difference. Consequently, learning of child goes on increasing. In the process child develops inhibitory process as well. It learns language and to represent objects by words and images.

The Child by the age of 7-8 years, develops a library of knowledge say associations and identifications, categorizing them good/positive and bad/negatives. This is referred as life script which plays important role through out the life of the person. The life script is very personal as it is formed from what the child knows. Still it does not know right or wrong. More Resources
